Hosting Platform
Website uses WordPress.org; using the Premium Plan.
This is odd for me as I have a high spec server plan with Siteground, which hosts my existing Logo Design website: https://imjustcreative.com so I could have easily created a new website for Stellar Web Discoveries.
The reason I’m trying WordPress.com is to see if it reduce interaction friction, as well as tapping into the existing social network.
So far I’m finding posting a little easier and quicker to .com opposed to .org
Also am noticing near instant traffic via the WordPress.com community, so am pleased about that.
Domain Name
The domain stellarweb.space is the closest I could find that fitted with the Stellar Web Discoveries theme, so am happy about that.
Domain also purchased direct through WordPress.com which provided a seamless transition from the original WordPress default user name domain. Could have bought it for less on Porkbun, but opted for the easiest solution.
Software
Ive discovered the Ulysses iOS app for writing my link blog posts, as both the Jetpack and WordPress iOS apps are just infuriating to use; to point of being almost impossible to write and edit any post.
Ulysses provides a clean writing environments, and has encountered me to learn basic markdown; which has been fun. It also links to WordPress, so I can write, edit and publish to WordPress straight from Ulysses; which has been a life saver.
Pay for the full suite of Adobe software; with Illustrator, Photoshop and Lightroom being the most used.
Will edit this Colophon, and list all the other smaller Mac OS and iOS I use soon. However, the main iOS apps are Raindrop.io to collect all the new links for Stellar Web, Apple Notes, Reeder (for RSS)
Hardware
I’m a long term Apple user, as far back as working on, and owning: Apple Macintosh Classic, Macintosh LC and then various Apple laptops along with a 2011 Apple Mac Pro and 27” Cinema Display.
Presently I’ve downgraded to a 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 16”, with external 23” monitor.
But I actually do most of my writing, link and bookmark searching, social media engagements on my Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, then finalise on my laptop.
Plan to buy a new Apple MacBook Air 13” in the near future.
